Ever since his high school accounting class, Doug knew he wanted to have a career in public accounting. After graduating from Western Michigan University, Doug started working for a medium sized firm in 1984 that later merged with Plante Moran.
In 1988, Doug started his own firm Vandersalm & Zwart, and later came to join Brink, Key & Chludzinski in 2000 for the growth potential and the environment. In 2002, Doug became a partner. Along with managing his clients with their tax and audit needs, he also helps with overseeing and managing the firm. "The highlight of this job is the day-to-day interaction I have with my clients and helping make strategic decisions that will impact their business."
When Doug isn't at the office, he is spending time with his wonderful wife of over 35 years up north at their cabin, golfing, shooting sporting clays, boating with their 2 adult children or reading.
